At Facilicom, it's about more than just facility services. Behind the scenes, a dedicated group of people is committed to social initiatives through the Facilicom Foundation. It was through this foundation that the collaboration with Sheltersuit began. What started as an employee request has grown into ongoing support and a series of joint actions, with real impact.
One day a week for impact
We spoke with Jeffrey and Miranda from Facilicom during an interview. In addition to their regular jobs, both dedicate one day a week to working as project managers within the Facilicom Foundation. From there, they support social initiatives that align with the company’s mission: creating a better living environment for everyone, especially when that’s not a given. Sheltersuit fits that mission perfectly.
“At the foundation, we look at three types of requests,” Jeffrey explains. “Employee requests, requests from our regular partners, and external one-off requests. Sheltersuit came to us through an employee request in August 2023. After some discussions, we decided to take part in the Sleep Out on November 10. We’ve been involved ever since.”

Donating, participating, and raising awareness
The collaboration quickly took on multiple forms. Facilicom organized a Sleep Out and made an additional donation at the end of the year. In 2024, they once again supported Sheltersuit by participating in the “Wash for Warmth” campaign, helping clean sleeping bags so they could be reused in new Sheltersuits.
During the Sleep Out itself, Jeffrey spent the night outside in a Sheltersuit. “It was cold, uncomfortable, and powerful. You’re lying there knowing: for me, this is just one night. Others sleep here every night.”
It really stirred something in us, we talked about it a lot afterward with the whole team.

Impact begins with genuine attention
On New Year’s Eve 2023, Jeffrey had another unexpected encounter with Sheltersuit. “I saw someone sleeping on the street in a Sheltersuit,” he recalls. “Later that evening, we went back with food and drinks. He said, ‘The best part is that you’re talking to me. Most people don’t even see me. I’ll never forget that moment.”
That human connection is exactly what impact means to Facilicom. Whether it’s financial support, volunteer work, or enabling football training for a youth disability team by covering indoor hall rental costs through an employee request, people are incredibly grateful when the company steps in. “That makes us proud.”

Continuing to contribute at every level
The foundation is now looking beyond one-off project donations. “We’re increasingly engaging with our social partners to understand their real needs. Sometimes that means targeted funding for structural support, like the purchase of an IT system. That, too, creates impact.”
For Sheltersuit, this hopefully means more than just one-time support in the future. Facilicom and Sheltersuit know how to find each other.
A message to other companies
What would Jeffrey and Miranda from Facilicom like to share with other companies considering supporting an initiative like Sheltersuit?
“Helping brings joy. Whether it’s through a donation or volunteering, you make a difference. And you feel that, for yourself, your colleagues, and the people you’re doing it for.”
