In Enschede, where creativity and entrepreneurship go hand in hand, JOMO Fashion has been designing clothing collections for major European brands for over fifty years. But behind the stylish designs lies more than just fashion. JOMO consciously chooses collaboration, sustainability, and social engagement. For six years, they’ve supported the Sheltersuit Foundation, and thanks to their contribution, more than 250 Sheltersuits have been distributed to people without a home.
From creativity to compassion
JOMO Fashion is a family of makers. With a team of designers, product managers, and creative thinkers, they develop new collections each season for babies, children, and adults. But what truly sets the company apart is its people-centered approach.
“We’re a close-knit team that values collaboration and long-term relationships — with clients, suppliers, and initiatives that make a difference,” says Wilma Veldman, who has been a product manager at JOMO for over thirty years.
At JOMO, it’s not only about fashion, but also about the people behind the product. That same mindset is what connects them with Sheltersuit: creating something together that truly has meaning.
A local connection with global impact
The collaboration between JOMO and Sheltersuit began six years ago, but the bond goes beyond an annual donation. The choice to support Sheltersuit was intentional: local, social, and close to home.
“We’ve known Sheltersuit for a long time and think it’s a wonderful initiative,” says Wilma. “It feels personal. We can see what’s happening in your workshop — how people find work and rebuild their future. That moves us.”
Noortje from JOMO adds:
“Our customers increasingly ask for sustainable choices, but we also want to contribute to a better world ourselves. Sheltersuit fits that perfectly: it’s close by, transparent, and socially driven.”
More than a donation
JOMO’s involvement goes far beyond financial support. They also donate the compensation they receive for guest lectures at Saxion University of Applied Sciences directly to Sheltersuit. It’s a form of giving that reflects their way of doing business: down-to-earth, compassionate, and with their hearts in the right place.
“Making an impact doesn’t always have to be big or complicated,” says Wilma. “Sometimes it simply starts with doing what feels right and staying true to it.”
Thanks to that mindset, more than 250 people have already received a Sheltersuit. Each one symbolizes warmth, protection, and hope — and JOMO has played an important part in that.
Together for a warmer world
Six years of partnership have resulted in something beautiful: not just practical support, but also mutual respect and connection. What JOMO and Sheltersuit share is the belief that fashion, work, and humanity can go hand in hand.
We care deeply about Sheltersuit. We see the impact you make, and it inspires us. This is a partnership that truly adds value.
